Benefits

Dyed instead of painted

With DyeMansion technology (the DeepDye process), the color sits in the material instead of lying on top as a layer.

  • Color in the material: It penetrates the surface and becomes part of the component.
  • No flaking: Dyeing does not coat the part; the color is driven into the surface under heat and pressure.
  • Color selection: almost any RAL shade on request, matching your corporate identity.
  • For series production: reproducible results, no painting costs and shorter turnaround times. Delivered ready to install.

Process

Depowdered, blasted and dyed

After the build job, a sintered part is not yet ready to install. Post-processing takes three steps and determines surface quality, color and reproducibility. It is carried out entirely in-house.

Depowdering and cleaning

The part is removed from the powder cake and freed of leftover powder, including in channels and undercuts.

Blasting

Blasting with the PolyShot process produces a uniform satin finish: more scratch-resistant and more pleasant to the touch than the untreated as-sintered surface, and more consistent, thanks to the machine process, than hand-blasted parts.

  • PolyShot
  • Uniform

Dyeing

In the DeepDye process, the color penetrates into the part. Almost any RAL shade is possible on request.

DyeMansion dyeing system

The DyeMansion dyeing system handles dyeing with the DeepDye process. Blasting systems from Formlabs and DyeMansion handle cleaning and surface finishing beforehand.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about dyeing SLS parts

Yes, we dye SLS parts rather than paint them. In the DeepDye process, the color penetrates into the part instead of sitting on the surface: it does not flake off and resists scratches. Almost any RAL shade is available on request. Cleaning and surface finishing are also done in-house.

Paint lies on the part as a layer. In the DeepDye process, the color penetrates into the part: it does not flake off and resists scratches. For series production, this means reproducible results and no painting costs.
