Typical applications

Applications for large parts in 3D printing

Large geometries are produced quickly and individually, without tooling or mold making.

Trade fair models & displays

Eye-catching exhibits, trade fair models and displays in original size, produced on time for the trade fair and, on request, finished with UV printing.

  • Exhibits
  • Trade fair models
  • Branding

Large prototypes

Design studies and functional prototypes at 1:1 scale: touch, test and present them before tooling or series production begins.

  • 1:1 models
  • Design studies
  • Validation

Fixtures & production aids

Fixtures, production aids and tools for manufacturing: robust, precisely fitting and much faster than CNC machining.

Formwork & molded parts for precast concrete

Formwork and molded parts for precast concrete elements are printed directly from CAD data, up to 2,400 mm in one piece and without mold making.

  • Molded parts
  • Precast concrete

Design objects & one-offs

Design objects and one-off pieces from a quantity of one, directly from CAD data.

Cost efficiency

Large parts without tooling, molds or waiting time.

For large parts, conventional manufacturing methods often require expensive tooling, molds or extensive machining. In large-format 3D printing, by contrast, the part is produced directly from your CAD data.

  • No tooling or mold-making costs
  • Economical from a quantity of one – ideal for one-offs and prototypes, but also for series production
  • Short lead times: 3 days to 2 weeks, express production by arrangement

The technology behind it

FGF: pellets instead of filament – printed with robotics

Fused Granulate Fabrication (FGF) prints directly from plastic pellets instead of expensive filament. Combined with robotic systems, it produces large parts quickly, with efficient use of material and at an economical cost.

  • Build volume up to 2,400 × 1,600 × 2,000 mm – around 7.7 m³ in one piece
  • Pellets instead of filament: significantly lower material costs
  • Robust industrial plastics and composite materials
  • Recycled materials possible – print sustainably

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about large-format 3D printing

Up to 2,400 × 1,600 × 2,000 mm in one piece – that is around 7.7 m³ of build volume. This puts the FGF machines at adddix among the largest industrially available plastic 3D printers in Germany.

Yes. Large-format 3D printing is economical from a quantity of one, because there are no tooling or mold-making costs. From a single trade fair model to series production, the part is made directly from the CAD data.

The price depends on part size, material and geometry – unlike conventional manufacturing, there are no tooling or mold-making costs. Send your CAD model to info@adddix.de or use the contact form: you will receive a concrete quote.

We print robust industrial plastics as pellets, fiber-reinforced composites and, on request, recycled materials. Because pellets are considerably cheaper than filament, even large parts remain economical. Specific materials that we don't keep in stock are sourced for your project.

Depending on the build volume, lead times range from 3 days to 2 weeks. Express service is possible by direct arrangement – please contact us directly: +49 9238 477 07 0 or info@adddix.de. For comparison: conventional mold or pattern making often takes several weeks to months for comparable sizes.

Typical applications are trade fair construction and exhibits, large prototypes at 1:1 scale, fixtures and production aids, covers and facade elements, and formwork and molded parts for precast concrete – wherever large geometries need to be produced individually and quickly.

Yes, formwork and molded parts for precast concrete elements are among the applications of large-format 3D printing. They are made directly from CAD data, up to 2,400 × 1,600 × 2,000 mm in one piece and without mold making. Requirements such as quantity, surface and use are clarified in the technical review of your inquiry.

As with our other technologies, the guideline value is ±0.3% (at least ±0.3 mm) based on DIN 16742. On request, we machine functional surfaces with tighter tolerances so that the part arrives ready to install.
